Xiamen Port sets records for border crossing volume

Xiamen Port authorities announced recently a surge in cross-border passenger traffic. Officials attributed the rise to new policies facilitating foreign nationals' travel to China. They also cited the development of the Cross-Strait Integrated Development Demonstration Zone as well as factors such as the Spring Festival and summer travel seasons and major trade events.  

According to data from the Xiamen General Border Inspection Station at Gaoqi Border Checkpoint, as of December 25, the total passenger traffic through Xiamen Port exceeded five million transits, marking a nearly 60 percent year-on-year increase and setting a new five-year high.  

In the aviation sector, cross-border passenger traffic reached 3.6 million transits, up more than 40 percent year-on-year and surpassing the same period in 2019. In the maritime sector, the Xiamen-Kinmen Mini Three Links ferry service recorded 1.22 million crossings, while international cruise traffic exceeded 84,000 passengers.
